Hananuma Masakichi was a Japanese sculpture artist. Believing that he was dying from tuberculosis, Masakichi sculpted a life size statue of himself as a gift to the woman he loved, which was completed in 1885. The artist himself died 10 years later, in poverty aged 63.
The Masakichi statue is renowned for being nearly identical in appearance to its creator. Made of between 2000 and 5000 wooden strips (reports differ), it is connected only by dovetail joints, glue and wooden pegs. No joint is visible on the statue, and it is lacquered to show every detail of Masakichi, including muscle, bone and vein. The artist also manufactured anatomically correct glass eyeballs for the statue. Finally, individual holes were drilled in the statue to represent the pores of the skin, and the corresponding hair inserted.
The statue was later purchased by Robert Ripley in 1934, and was housed in his California Odditorium until his death in 1949. After Ripley’s death, the masterpiece toured various Odditoriums until it was stored in the Los Angeles Odditorium where it was damaged in the 1994 Northridge earthquake. The statue is currently awaiting restoration in Los Angleles Odditorium and a replica is in the London Odditorium.

A Japanese bakery, Kinseiken Seika, is cooking up a storm and it’s getting all over the world wide web.
The dessert they are cooking up is the mizu shingen mochi and it is a rice cake that is made out of… you guessed it water from the Japanese Alps.
A Tweet from a customer said that the dessert “has a pleasant natural sweetness… (and) goes incredibly smoothly down your throat.”

re-drawing that glamorous dwarf lady from last year.
i’ve decided that she’s a fashion designer and owns a business called Chain-mail Bikinis. they offer a wide and fashionable array of armor and casual clothing for creatures with ‘unconventional’ body types.
you 4 feet tall with line-backer shoulders looking for an evening gown? she’s got you.
need material that won’t rip when you turn into a ferocious were-beast? you’re good.
a literal terrifying giant dragon? you wouldn’t believe how easy it is to make a suit coat that accommodates wings.
fashion dwarf can do it all. to bad i can’t think of a name yet.

Friendly reminder this show was filmed in front of a live studio audience in one take.
And that all sitcom laugh tracks are taken from this show because the laughter was so sincere.
friendly reminder that this show was fuckin awesome
And most of the people who were recorded laughing are dead now. When you hear people laughing in sitcoms today, it’s the recorded laughter of dead people.
Well that escalated quickly
